SGI CANADA (Alberta) is seeking an Underwriting Assistant to support the Commercial Auto underwriting team. The role offers hybrid work with on-site rotation in Calgary or Edmonton and remote work during scheduled periods.

You will process policies, assess routine risk, and deliver exceptional broker service. Typically, candidates have a one-year certificate in Insurance & Risk Management and 1–2 years of experience in Commercial Lines.

Qualifications

• One-year certificate in Business with Insurance & Risk Management or a related field.
• 1–2 years of directly related experience in Commercial Lines.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy in processing policies and endorsements.

Responsibilities

• Support the Commercial Auto underwriting team by processing policies and endorsements, and by providing service to brokers.
• Assess routine risk and ensure accurate policy administration.
• Collaborate with brokers and colleagues to maintain high service levels.

Location: Calgary or Edmonton - This role is eligible for a hybrid work arrangement, providing flexibility to work both on-site in either Calgary or Edmonton and remotely from home on a scheduled rotation. The successful candidate will be expected to work on-site full-time until they are fully trained and comfortable in the role.

Pay Range: $55,371 - $69,175

We’re looking for an Underwriting Assistant with a strong foundation in commercial lines insurance.

As an Underwriting Assistant, you’ll support the Commercial Auto underwriting team by processing policies, assessing routine risk, and providing service to brokers. You’ll play a key role in ensuring accurate policy administration while contributing to strong broker relationships and service delivery.
