Job summary

ALTEN Canada is seeking a UI/UX Designer to design a lightweight interface for a low-latency, C++-based control system. You will help operators during start-up and recovery and translate requirements into user journeys and prototypes.

Collaborate with the C++ team and users, facilitate workshops, review workflows, and craft wireframes and interactive designs for critical subsystem operations in rail/industrial contexts.

Qualifications

• Ability to design operator-facing workflows for critical control systems
• Strong workshop facilitation and collaboration with development teams
• Experience translating requirements into user journeys, wireframes and prototypes
• Familiarity with recovery and system start-up workflows

Responsibilities

• Organize and participate in the initial consulting workshop to assess the existing proprietary tool.
• Review operator workflows and identify UI/UX improvements for critical subsystem operations.
• Translate development and operational requirements into user journeys, wireframes, and interactive prototypes.
• Design lightweight, responsive interfaces optimized for low-latency environments.
• Focus on occasional but critical scenarios, such as system start-up and recovery.
• Collaborate closely with the C++ development team and operators.
• Support implementation reviews, usability validation, and design adjustments.
