Job summary

• 3-7 years of production experience in a seed treating plant.
• Seed treatment experience is an asset.
• Certified forklift operator.
• Strong leadership with supervisory experience.
• Professional interaction with employees, management and customers.

Responsibilities

• Ensure the treating formula is accurate for each customer.
• Operate plant treating machinery per standard procedures.
• Monitor treated seed for quality control.
• Handle chemicals safely with MSDS attached to decanted product.
• Keep up with new seed processing methods.
• Maintain clean and orderly work areas.
• Operate a forklift.
• Document processes through the ERP system (Deacom).
• Assist in training new treating line staff.
• Contribute to the Quality Management System and meet regulatory requirements.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Job description

On behalf of our client, Kletke Seeds Farm, we are recruiting for a Treating Line Technician. Reporting to the Production Supervisor, the Treating Line Technician leads all activities related to the treatment of seeds.The Treating Line Technician is the key team member treating alfalfa, canola, or soybeans using predetermined chemical formulas ensuring a quality product.

As the Treating Line Technician, you will:

• Ensure the treating formula is accurate for each customer
• Operate plant treating machinery in accordance with standard operating procedures
• Constantly monitor the treated seed for quality control
• Handle chemicals in a safe manner ensuring MSDS information is attached to decanted product
• Keep abreast of new and alternative methods of seed processing
• Keep all work areas clean and tidy
• Operate a forklift
• Facilitate proper documentation of process through use of ERP system (Deacom)
• Assist in training new treating line employees
• Contribute to and participate in the success of our Quality Management System
• Meet all legal and other requirements (e.g. Workplace Safety and Health, Environment Act, Seeds Canada Certification and contractual obligations)
• Other duties as assigned

You and Your Experience:

• 3-7 years of experience directly related to production in a seed treating plant
• Seed Treatment Experience is an asset
• Certified forklift operator
• Strong leadership skills with supervisory experience
• Must be considerate and can interact with other employees, management, and customers in a professional manner
• Effective problem-solving
• High-level mathematical, analytical, and communication skills
• Strong initiative, utilizes creativity and capable of working with minimal supervision
• Accepts feedback and eager to learn and apply knowledge
• Ability to lift 50 lbs.
• Possess a valid Province of Manitoba driver’s license
