Job summary

The Family Centre is seeking an individual to support families with a trauma-informed approach, aiding caregivers to increase parenting capacity, resilience, and familial connections. The role involves partnering with community organizations to provide programming, build resources, and promote positive engagement within the community.

Responsibilities include facilitating community activities, meeting families 1:1 to set goals, addressing issues affecting parenting, and educating caregivers

Qualifications

  • Degree in Child & Youth Care or Social Work, or Diploma with related experience.
  • Proficient communication, caseload management and facilitation skills.
  • Experience working with diverse populations.
  • Background checks and professional registrations as required.

Responsibilities

  • Support families to improve overall functioning and caregiver capacity.
  • Facilitate capacity-building activities and community programs.
  • Collaborate with internal and external partners to meet community needs.
  • Lead groups in community spaces and conduct 1:1 meetings with families.
  • Address factors impacting positive parenting and wellness.
  • Promote healthy brain development through attachment, literacy, play, and nutrition.
  • Educate caregivers on child development and trauma-informed practices.
  • Assist families to engage in their child’s learning and school involvement.
  • Build connections between schools and caregivers.
