Job summary

The Salvation Army in Vancouver, BC, is seeking a Direct Care Worker for Deborah’s Gate Safehouse. You will provide compassionate case support, safety, and referrals to services for participants, helping disrupt cycles of trafficking.

Responsibilities include documentation, treatment planning, and client advocacy. Qualifications include Grade 12, First Aid/CPR, food safety and crisis intervention training or willingness to obtain them, with fluent English and strong confidentiality.

Qualifications

  • Completion of Grade 12 or the equivalent education, training and experience.
  • Current First Aid/CPR or willingness to be trained.
  • Certification in Non-Violent Crisis Intervention or willingness to be trained.
  • WHMIS or willingness to be trained.
  • Certification in FOODSAFE Level 1 or willingness to be trained.
  • Mental Health First Aid Certification or willingness to be trained.
  • Naloxone Training or willingness to be trained.

Responsibilities

  • Provide case support from intake to discharge with strict confidentiality.
  • Assist in developing program plans to achieve client objectives.
  • Provide basic life skills support and referrals to services.
  • Maintain client records and safety, and accompany clients as needed.
  • Attend meetings and contribute to program development.
