Job summary

Alberta Precision Laboratories (APL) seeks a dedicated Driver to support laboratory operations in Ft. McMurray.

This physically demanding role involves transporting specimens and lab supplies, maintaining sample integrity, and adhering to safety and regulatory standards. As a Transportation Service Representative, you will follow established routes, document deliveries, and ensure timely transport while interacting with laboratory staff, healthcare workers, and clients.

Qualifications

• Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent.
• Must hold a valid Class 5 Alberta Operator's Licence.
• Experience as a commercial driver is an asset.

Responsibilities

• Deliver and pick up a range of products including mail, specimens, lab supplies, mail, and blood products to and from Rapid Response Labs, Patient Care Centres, and client offices in a timely manner.
• Maintain integrity of cargo by using appropriate storage methods and following established protocols.
• Adhere to safe driving regulations and vehicle maintenance procedures; manage documentation of deliveries and coordinates with lab staff.

We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Driver to support our laboratory operations. Every specimen you transport contributes to someone’s diagnosis and treatment.This is a physically demanding role where you will be required to lift up to 50lbs and transport important medical specimens and equipment to ensure public health and safety. Your contribution helps the lab staff provide early detection of diseases and the monitoring of health trends in the communities. You interact daily with laboratory staff, healthcare workers, and clients, where these connections can lead to a strong sense of community and teamwork in this critical healthcare environment.You will be responsible for following established protocols to maintain the integrity of samples, properly documenting deliveries, and adhering to all regulatory requirements. Please note that the is a causal position meaning there is no set schedule. In addition to a competitive rate of pay, APL currently has a Fort McMurray Allowance in place to an annual maximum of $12,480. This allowance is non-pensionable and is payable on an hourly basis for all hours paid at the basic rate of pay.

As a Transportation Service Representative, your role will be to deliver and pick up a range of products including, but not limited to, mail, specimens, lab supplies, mail, and blood products to and from Rapid Response Labs, Patient Care Centres, and client offices in a timely manner and according to an established routine, in accordance with APL standards, regulations and policies. Working independently, you must use appropriate storage methods to maintain integrity of cargo. You must adhere to all safe driving regulations and vehicle maintenance procedures. Maintenance of vehicles as well as coolers and transport boxes is also involved.
