Metrolinx, based in Oakville, is seeking a Communication Controller to direct and manage GO Transit and UP Express operations from the NOC. The role involves coordinating daily service, handling incidents, and informing staff and customers during disruptions.

The successful candidate will join a 24/7 operational team, have a diploma in a related field, and possess strong communication and problem-solving skills.

Qualifications

• Diploma in Business Administration, Transportation, or related field or equivalent.
• Progressive experience in a transportation control centre or related role.
• Knowledge of transit operations and facility management.
• Familiarity with health, safety, transportation, construction, and environmental legislation and codes.
• Excellent computer skills with Word, Excel and PowerPoint; quick to learn proprietary software.
• Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment; strong written and verbal communication.

Responsibilities

• Control, coordinate and monitor daily operation of GO Transit and UP Express service network.
• Liaise between NOC and Station Operations during disruptions and disseminate information to frontline staff.
• Coordinate emergency responses and communicate service status to customers.
• Manage internal and external communications related to service recovery and delays.
• Identify and address facility and equipment issues to restore safe operation.
• Provide information on procedures for emergency response and environmental regulation.
