Job summary

Mission Possible is a Vancouver-based nonprofit organization dedicated to helping people overcome homelessness, poverty, addiction, and mental health barriers through employment readiness. We provide training opportunities and supported pathways via our ERP and social enterprises to build skills, confidence, and sustainable livelihoods.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for training opportunities including planning, tracking, enrolment, participant follow ups, and administrative duties across multiple programs and departments.
  • Supervise the growth and development of training programs and partnerships at Mission Possible.
  • Collaborate with departments to identify training needs for Mission Possible programs.
  • Onboarding and facilitating orientation for participants.
  • Responsible for the implementation of case management software for comprehensive data recording, progress tracking, and report generation for training opportunities to meet program needs.
  • Conduct 1-1 coaching sessions and manage a caseload of 8-10 participants to assist participants in achieving their employment goals.
  • Facilitation of Information Sessions, Workshops, special events and daily briefs as well as other program responsibilities.
  • Refer participants to community supports, resources, and external programs when appropriate.
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Training Coordinator

Mission Possible is a non-profit organization and social enterprise located in Vancouver’s Downtown Eastside. We support individuals challenged by homelessness, poverty, addiction, mental illness, and other barriers to employment to achieve a renewed sense of dignity and purpose through meaningful work. Through our Employment Readiness Program and our social enterprises, we equip our program participants with the skills, confidence, and support they need to rejoin the workforce and rebuild a self-sustaining livelihood for themselves.

ABOUT THE JOB Position type
  • 32 hrs per week (Tuesday - Friday or evenly split across 5 days)

Compensation

$25.25/hour

Job Summary

The Training Coordinator will focus on training opportunities and client and case management with our Employment Readiness Program. The role will oversee the administration and development of training opportunities as well as development of new training initiatives across multiple programs.

Working Conditions

The Training Coordinator will report to the Momentum Coordinator, and will work closely with other members of the ERP Team, Projects Team, and other Mission Possible staff. They will interact with program participants, community partners, and volunteers. The role requires a great deal of multi-tasking, efficiency, and flexibility. Most work will take place in the Mission Possible office with occasional travel within Metro Vancouver to other organizations.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
  • A passion for empowering people with an empathetic and supportive attitude.
  • Skilled at facilitation and speaking well to groups of people.
  • Knowledge of diverse adult learning techniques and able to find and coordinate appropriate opportunities for different needs.
  • Strong analytical, organizational and creative problem solving skills.
  • Understands and embodies a trauma informed approach to community services.
  • The ability to work in a team environment but also to work independently.
  • A proven ability to demonstrate professionalism, respectful workplace conduct, and alignment with Mission Possible’s core values: Compassion, Humility, Empowerment, Support, and Tenacity.
Education and Experience
  • Diploma or post-secondary degree in a related field (e.g. psychology, social work, sociology, community economic development) is an asset.
  • Experience working in the Downtown Eastside community is an asset.
  • Facilitation (workshops/training) experience.
  • Program Coordination experience.
  • Coaching experience is an asset.
  • Class 5 Driver’s License is an asset.
  • Or the equivalent combination of related skills and experience.
