Position: Training Coordinating Specialist

Regulatory Compliance Requirements

- Required to obtain and maintain a Security Clearance at the NATO Secret Level.
Position Summary
The Training Coordinating Specialist will coordinate, conduct and contribute to the planning, development and delivery of the Arctic & Offshore Patrol Ship and Joint Support Ship (AJISS) training solutions developed for the two classes of ships and the coordination, management, and maintenance of the overall AJISS training program.
Initially, the Training Coordinating Specialist will primarily be involved in coordinating training and administration of courses for both Thales employees and that of the Canadian Forces. The Training Coordinating Specialist is also responsible for collaborating in the development of the training associated with engineering changes and the coordination of Service Providers who provide Operator and Maintainer training to the AJISS Enterprise (Thales employees, Ship staff, and other DND organisations).
Key Areas of Responsibility
Course Planning Services
- Develop training schedules.
- Oversee Training Needs Analysis (TNA) data collection.
- Amend training documentation and courseware incorporating all changes required to the Qualifications, Standards and Plans (QSPs) which may include editorial corrections, updates of references, and / or changes resulting from Engineering Configuration Changes.
- Schedule assessments of new courseware in accordance with DND approved standards and specifications.
- Support the design, development and acquisition of new training materials and courseware.
- Oversee translation of all AOPS and JSS courseware and reference materials.
Training Support Services
- Develop, coordinate approval and track the annual AJISS Training Plan.
- Identify and contribute to the staffing requirements to support AJISS Training activities.
- Contribute to the procurement of training activities by preparing Statements of Work to acquire training services.
- Perform the role of Technical Authority in the delivery of contracted training services.
Training Delivery Services
- Develop and maintain a schedule of training activities and OPIs.
- Coordinate training delivery requirements with AJISS enterprise including DND agencies.
- Provision of training venue.
- Provision of training delivery materials.
- Facilitation of courses and training device usage.
- Record keeping associated with training courses.
- Conduct of courses.
- Assessment of students and course administration.
Training Materiel Support Services
- Conduct trials of AOPS and JSS lesson guidance and instructional materials.
- Provide services related to development or conduct of evaluation of training methods.
- Exercise continuous improvement of all AOPS and JSS courseware or virtual trainers.
- Acquire learning aids from supporting Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs).
Minimum Qualifications
- Post‑secondary education in Educational or Business Administration or an equivalent field.
- Operational Functional Point (OFP) in dedicated naval occupation (ex. MARTECH, MSEO, or NWO).
- Experience in the Canadian Forces Training Environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with instructional design methodologies, delivery instructor‑led training and Computer Based Training.
- Experience in the Canadian Forces Training Establishments, desired roles could include Training Manager, Course Training Officer (CTO), Curriculum Control Document Analyst (CCDA).
- Experience in military divisional leadership (divisional commander or similar role).
- Logistical and procurement experience, specifically the use of sub‑contractors and managing contracts between the RCN and industry.
- Familiarity with the Canadian Forces Individual Training and Education System (CFITES).
Language
English (Essential), French (Desirable)
Special Position Requirements
Predominantly office work but may be required to work in dockyards and onboard Naval ships.
Schedule
40 hours per week.
Physical Environment
Hybrid position – which is a mix of working from home and onsite (in office, at customer site or on‑board ships alongside in harbour).
Travel
Occasional domestic travel may be required in support of the ships.
Compensation
Total Target Cash (TTC) 77,413.00 - 124,369.00 CAD Annual.
