Job summary

Dexterra Group in Ottawa is seeking an overnight TrainCleaner to ensure the cleanliness of our rail facilities for daily passenger service. You will work 1:30 AM to 5:00 AM, performing interior train cleaning, sanitizing surfaces, and restocking supplies.

You will operate cleaning equipment such as pressure washers and backpack vacuums, follow safety procedures, report issues, and work both independently and with a team to keep trains ready.

Qualifications

• Must be able to lift up to 25 lbs.
• Overnight availability is required.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Clean and sanitize interiors of trains, including floors, seats, windows, walls, poles, doors, and driver cabs.
• Remove garbage, debris, and recyclables from train cars and dispose of waste properly.
• Sweep, mop, vacuum, and scrub train floors for a clean, safe environment.
• Clean and disinfect high-touch surfaces like handrails and door handles.
• Restock cleaning supplies and maintain equipment.
• Operate cleaning equipment safely (pressure washers, backpack vacuums, etc.).
• Follow safety procedures and client standards while in rail yards and facilities.
• Assist with deep cleaning projects as needed.

As an overnight TrainCleaner, you will ensure the over-all cleanliness of our facilities to the highest level. The overnight shift is 1:30AM – 5:00AM.

Your work will include:

• Cleaning and sanitizing the interior of trains, including floors, seats, windows, walls, poles, doors, and driver cabs as required.
• Removing garbage, debris, and recyclable materials from train cars and disposing of waste in designated areas.
• Sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, and auto-scrubbing train floors to maintain a clean and safe environment.
• Cleaning and disinfecting high-touch surfaces, including handrails, grab poles, buttons, door handles, and operator compartments.
• Restocking cleaning supplies and ensuring all equipment is maintained and ready for use.
• Performing exterior spot cleaning of trains, including windows, doors, and other accessible surfaces when required.
• Reporting any damage, vandalism, graffiti, spills, or safety concerns to the supervisor immediately.
• Operating cleaning equipment safely, including pressure washers, backpack vacuums, and other custodial tools.
• Following all safety procedures, company policies, and client standards while working in rail yards and maintenance facilities.
• Assisting with deep cleaning projects and other duties as assigned to ensure trains are ready for daily passenger service.
