Position Summary:
Western is seeking a Journeyperson Trailer Mechanic (310J) to join our team of mechanics. The successful candidate will work in our industrial shop in Barrie, Ontario. They shall have the ability to prioritize ongoing projects and tasks to meet deadlines, with attention to detail and problem solving.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Repairs, preventative maintenance, and annual certifications of Western owned trailers.
- Diagnosis and repair of electrical and hydraulic issues, including hydraulic lines.
- Test and adjust units to specifications.
- Develop accurate repair recommendations, taking into consideration time constraints.
- Ensure all repairs and maintenance activities adhere to Company, industry, and regulatory requirements and standards.
- Maintain accurate records of repairs and service according to Company procedures.
- Order parts and components for repairs.
Qualifications & Competencies:
- 3-5 years of experience (required)
- Trailer Mechanic – 310J Journeyperson (required)
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Ability to weld steel and aluminum is an asset
- Experience with hydraulic service or installation
- Reliable team player
- Willingness to become certified to operate overhead cranes and forklifts
Term, Hours of Work and Compensation:
- This is a full-time position.
- 44 hours per week, day shift.
- Monday – Thursday 9 hours, and Friday 8 hours.
- The role is entitled to vacation pay and paid statutory holidays.
- We expect to compensate the successful candidate at hourly rates consistent with market expectations and based on experience.
