Job summary

The City of Toronto is seeking an experienced Transportation Engineer to lead traffic systems design and ITS projects, reporting to the Manager Traffic Systems. You will plan, design, and oversee signals, CCTV, and related infrastructure and coordinate with consultants and internal teams.

This role requires a P.Eng., a Civil Engineering degree with a transportation focus, strong project management, and excellent communication skills to work with external partners on capital programs.

Qualifications

  • Registration as a Professional Engineer with Professional Engineers Ontario (PEO).
  • University degree in Civil Engineering with a transportation focus or equivalent.
  • Extensive ITS, traffic signal operations and ATMS project experience.
  • Experience leading multidisciplinary teams on medium-large ITS deployments.
  • Valid Ontario G class licence and access to a vehicle.

Responsibilities

  • Direct design and construction projects for traffic signal infrastructure upgrades.
  • Review technical reports and provide input and guidance.
  • Prepare contracts, policies and procurement documents.
  • Direct external service providers on quality, cost and timelines.
  • Supervise project team members and coordinate with stakeholders.
