Job summary

The Toronto Transit Commission (TTC) seeks a Transportation Engineer reporting to the Manager, Transportation Engineering, to lead research, planning and implementation of operational improvements for Toronto's transit network.

You will analyze signal timing, priority applications, and conduct transit/traffic impact studies, presenting findings at public meetings. A Civil Engineering degree and P.Eng eligibility in Ontario are required, with hybrid work and a competitive salary.

Qualifications

• University degree in Civil Engineering, or the equivalent, combined with several years of directly related experience.
• Must be registered (or eligible to be registered within 2 years) as a licenced Professional Engineer in Ontario.
• Must have or rapidly acquire knowledge of OHRC and AODA requirements pertaining to passengers/employees.
• Sound knowledge of civil engineering principles, especially Traffic Engineering and Transportation Planning.
• Excellent analytical, research, reporting and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Investigate and resolve operational problems on surface routes using traffic signal and design principles.
• Represent TTC as a technical specialist on studies and transit priority applications.
• Keep abreast of advances in Transportation Engineering.
• Advise City staff on optimum design for transit priority.
• Conduct and review transit/traffic impact analyses for new developments.
