Job summary

Egis Canada in Kingston, Ontario is seeking an Electrical Engineer – Traffic Signal Design to design and deliver electrical systems for urban transportation projects, with a focus on traffic signal installations and roadway interfaces.

The role spans preliminary and detailed design, regulatory reviews, construction support, and project closeout. A P.Eng. with 5–10 years' experience is required; strong CAD skills and knowledge of the Canadian Electrical Code are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited institution.
• Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation with PEO in good standing.
• 5+ to 10 years of progressive electrical engineering experience.
• Minimum 3 years of direct traffic signal design experience.
• Strong knowledge of the Canadian Electrical Code (CEC).
• Experience applying transportation standards (OTM Book 12, OPSD, OPSS).
• Proficiency with AutoCAD and AutoCAD Civil 3D.
• Experience delivering electrical systems for transportation or municipal projects.
• Strong communication and team collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and review electrical design packages for traffic signal projects.
• Develop technical documentation and design deliverables.
• Coordinate multidisciplinary interfaces with civil/transportation teams.
• Conduct design reviews for regulatory compliance and standards.
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior staff.
• Support QA/QC activities for electrical deliverables.
• Participate in stakeholder meetings and provide engineering input.
• Contribute to standards, templates, and best practices.
• Provide construction support and field issue resolution.
