• Evaluate daily operations

• Establish and implement policies and standards for the transportation and storage of goods

• Organize and maintain inventory
• Record cargo information, hours of service, distance travelled, and fuel consumption

• Operate, maintain, and repair deck equipment
• Operate and maintain off-loading liquid pumps and valves
• Monitor engine, machinery, and equipment indicators
• Lubricate moving parts of engine, machinery, and auxiliary equipment
• Command and operate ships or vessels to transport passengers and cargo
• Clean, chip, and paint deck surfaces
• Clean engine parts and keep engine room clean
• Assist in the development of operation, maintenance, and safety procedures
• Assist in performing routine maintenance work and repairs to ship's engine, machinery, and auxiliary equipment
• Handle mooring lines, and splice and repair ropes, wire cables, and cordage
