Job summary

Northern College of Applied Arts and Technology in Timmins is seeking a part-time Shop Technician to assist instructors and coordinate day-to-day operations of Trades laboratories and shop facilities.

You will provide technical support for heavy equipment and tooling, prepare materials, equipment, and training aids, and help ensure a safe, functional learning environment. Starting wage is CAD 35.43 per hour, 0–24 hours per week, with opportunities for growth.

Qualifications

• College Diploma or Apprenticeship with Red Seal in Industrial Mechanics (Millwright), Heavy Equipment, Automotive Service, Welding, or Mechanical Technology, or related field.
• Minimum five (5) years of practical experience in a related trade.
• Forklift Certification is considered an asset.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate day-to-day operations of Trades laboratories and shop facilities.
• Serve as the primary contact for shop- and laboratory-related technical inquiries.
• Provide specialized technical support for operation, maintenance, modification, installation, and troubleshooting of heavy equipment, automotive systems, and related trainers.
