Job summary

SMC Group of Companies Inc. is seeking a passionate Tow Truck Driver in Ottawa. Responsibilities include operating tow trucks to move vehicles, performing inspections, and providing roadside assistance. Status: Regular; Permanent; Full‑time (3 Vacancies)
Start Date: As soon as possible
Salary: $36.50 per hour
Hours: 30 to 35 hours/Week (Night shifts needed)
Work Setting: On‑site

Job Description
  • Drive and operate tow trucks to move vehicles that are damaged or not working to a repair shops, impound lots or other designated locations
  • Attach and secure vehicles to tow trucks using chains, straps, winches or other towing equipment to prevent damage
  • Respond to roadside assistance requests and service calls from dispatchers or customers
  • Perform pre‑trip, en route and post‑trip inspections and oversee all aspects of vehicle
  • Maintain accurate records of services performed, time logs, and mileage
  • Communicate with dispatchers, customers, and other drivers using communication devices
  • Provide excellent customer service and ensure the safety of passengers and vehicles during towing operations
  • Perform minor roadside repairs such as changing flat tires, jump‑starting batteries, or unlocking vehicles
  • Follow safety procedures and traffic laws while operating the tow truck
  • Keep the tow truck clean and in good working condition, report any mechanical issues
Qualifications and Professional Skills
  • Experience: At least 7 months of previous experience in the position or related position
  • Education: Secondary (high) school graduation certificate
  • Valid commercial driver’s license (CDL) with a clean driving record
