Job summary

About the Opportunity
Compensation and Benefits Strategy Support (50%)
  • Accountable to review all HR legislative requirements and ensure compliance with all statutes and regulations
  • Supports the development and implementation of the client’s compensation and benefits strategy, policies and processes
  • Assists in the analysis and review of current compensation programs and processes, as well as the development of new programs, by researching market trends, analyzing competitive compensation survey data, conducting plan modeling and making recommendations for program changes
  • Coordinates and supports compensation and benefits related special projects
  • Supports the transition of HR strategy and policies into practical and effective compensation and benefit solutions including communications and system changes
  • Supports the ongoing development and enhancement of HR systems, by participating as a subject matter expert, developing specification documents and testing changes
  • Provides support for training, policy, communications related to compensation and benefits
  • Regularly reviews and updates compensation and benefits documentation to ensure information is clear, concise and up to date
Benefits Administration (25%)
  • Responsible for the implementation and administration of the ASO benefits contracts, including: EHC, Dental, Life, LTD, AD&D and the HCA
  • Collaborate with Occupational Health and Wellness department and Long Term Disability provider on the client’s disability management efforts
  • Conduct benefit analysis and provide solutions and recommendations for improvements when issues are raised
  • Develop benefits related training materials and communication to employees, act as the first point of contact on all benefits inquiries
  • Collaborate with the HR and payroll teams on special projects such as annual increases, government payout initiatives etc
  • Assist with HOOPP Administration, answer employee inquiries and resolve escalations
Analytics and Auditing and Payroll (25%)
  • Researches, analyzes, synthesizes and presents HR data and reports as assigned
  • Provides data and supporting information for collective bargaining, committees and continuous improvement initiatives related to compensation and benefits
  • Conducts internal surveys and participates in external surveys on compensation and benefits, leading analysis and recommendations
  • Providing in analysis of programs, including ad hoc reports and analysis
  • Provides research and analytical support on executive compensation when requested
  • Auditing and updating the HRIS system (Ceridian Dayforce) and ensuring compensation and benefit rates are configured correctly
  • Assists with Payroll transaction processing as required
  • Serves as a Payroll Back Up as required
About You
  • Undergraduate degree in Business and/or Human Resource Management
  • Working towards PCP or CEBs
  • Certified Human Resources Professional designation (CHRP) preferred
  • Compensation and benefits experience within a unionized environment
  • Sound knowledge of compensation, benefits and labour relations principles
  • Knowledge and experience using various sourcing tools
  • Minimum three (3) to five (5) years’ experience as an HR professional in a unionized workplace
  • Previous experience participating in costing aspect of the collective bargaining process an asset
  • Healthcare or broader public sector experience in HR strongly preferred
  • Professional behaviour and communication that meets the standards of the professional regulatory association
  • Attention to detail and accuracy is essential along with well-established organization skills and the ability to handle multiple tasks and responsibilities while recognizing priorities.
  • Good work and attendance record required.
Salary Range

$78,000 - $96,000 /year
