Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or DEC in Mechanical Engineering Technology.
  • 1 to 5 years of experience in mechanical design and tooling design.
  • Experience interpreting engineering drawings and specs.
  • Proficient with CATIA; other CAD tools considered.

Responsibilities

  • Design custom tooling, fixtures, lifting devices, alignment tools, and assembly aids using CATIA or other 3D CAD software.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to gather tooling requirements and develop design solutions.

Insight Global is partnering with a leading aerospace manufacturer in Longueuil, QC to hire a Tooling Designer. This team plays a critical role in supporting production by designing custom tooling solutions used for assembly, alignment, lifting, fixturing, and manufacturing of complex aerospace components.

This is an excellent opportunity for early-career engineers and designers looking to build their experience in a high-tech aerospace environment while working directly with manufacturing, engineering, and production teams.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design custom manufacturing tooling, fixtures, lifting devices, alignment tools, and assembly aids using CATIA or other 3D CAD software.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to gather tooling requirements and develop practical design solutions.
  • Create detailed 3D models, engineering drawings, and manufacturing documentation.
  • Participate in design reviews and implement feedback from engineering and production teams.
  • Support the development of new tooling concepts for upcoming manufacturing programs.
  • Work closely with tooling shops and manufacturing teams to ensure designs meet operational and production requirements.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives, tooling standardization, and process optimization efforts.
Required Qualifications
  • DEC in Mechanical Engineering Technology, Mechanical Design, or a related technical discipline OR a Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • 1 to 5 years of experience in:

Mechanical Design

Product Design

Manufacturing Engineering

Related engineering environments

  • Experience with 3D CAD software (CATIA preferred; SolidWorks, Inventor, Creo, NX, or other platforms also considered).
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications.
Compensation

$30/hr to $38/hr

Exact compensation may vary based on several factors, including skills, experience, and education.

  • Benefit packages for this role will start on the 31st day of employment and include medical, dental, and vision insurance, as well as short-term and long-term disability, life insurance and AD&D. Employees will also have access to a registered retirement savings account with employer matching. Employees in this role are also entitled to sick leave and/or other paid time off as provided by applicable law.
