Job summary

Job description

A leading manufacturing organization is seeking an experienced Tooling Design Specialist to join its engineering team. This role is responsible for developing tooling concepts, creating detailed designs, and supporting the implementation of tooling solutions for industrial manufacturing applications. The successful candidate will collaborate closely with customers, engineering teams, and production personnel to deliver innovative and efficient tooling solutions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with customers and internal stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle, from concept development through implementation
  • Develop tooling concepts and detailed mechanical designs for manufacturing application
  • Create 3D models, engineering drawings, assemblies, and related technical documentation
  • Participate in design reviews and contribute to continuous improvement initiative
  • Support the integration of tooling solutions into customer manufacturing processes
  • Prepare bills of materials, component specifications, and procurement documentation
  • Coordinate technical requirements and project deliverables with cross-functional team
  • Assist with prototype development, testing, validation, and performance evaluation
  • Support installation, commissioning, and troubleshooting activities at customer facilities
  • Conduct field assessments, investigate technical issues, and recommend corrective action
  • Contribute to research and development projects focused on product and process improvement
  • Prepare technical reports, maintain project documentation, and ensure accurate record-keeping
  • Collaborate with sales and engineering teams to support customer projects and business development initiatives
Qualifications
  • 5+ years of experience in tooling design, die building, maintenance, or related manufacturing environment
  • Strong understanding of stamping processes, tooling systems, and mechanical design principles
  • Experience interpreting engineering drawings and applying geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T)Proficiency with CAD software and 3D modelling too
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and project coordination skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication abilities
  • Highly organized with strong attention to detail
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and collaboratively
  • Willingness and ability to travel internationally as required
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience within the automotive, advanced manufacturing, or industrial production section
  • Background supporting tooling operations in high-volume manufacturing environments
  • Experience with fastening, joining, forming, or metal fabrication technologies
  • Proficiency with leading 3D CAD platforms, including SolidWorks or similar software
  • Additional engineering, technical, or manufacturing education is considered an asset
