Job summary

AAA Canada Inc. is seeking a Tooling Design Engineer in Laval, Quebec to design and develop tooling for aerospace components. The role requires at least 5 years of tooling design experience in aerospace manufacturing or MRO and strong CAD capabilities.

You will translate requirements into practical tooling solutions, create 3D models and drawings, and ensure designs meet aerospace standards and regulatory requirements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in mechanical or aerospace engineering or equivalent experience.
• 5+ years of tooling design experience in an aerospace manufacturing or MRO environment.
• Essential experience with composite structures; sheet metal experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop tooling such as molds, jigs, fixtures, patterns, assembly aids, and repair tools for composite and metallic components.
• Translate engineering data and manufacturing requirements into practical tooling solutions.
• Create 3D models, drawings, and technical documentation for tooling using CAD software.
• Support tooling from design through manufacturing, validation, and shop floor implementation.
• Collaborate with production to ensure tooling is ergonomic, safe, and fit for use.
• Support repair activities by developing tooling solutions compliant with approved repair data.
• Ensure tooling designs comply with aerospace standards, internal procedures, and regulatory requirements (Transport Canada, FAA, EASA).
• Support First Article Inspections (FAI), tooling qualification, and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Provide technical support for tooling issues, modifications, and root cause analysis.
• Ensure configuration control, revision management, and proper documentation of tooling designs.

Profile sought

• You hold a Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, or a related technical discipline, or equivalent experience;
• You have 5 or more years of experience in tooling design within an aerospace manufacturing or MRO environment;
• You have essential experience with composite structures, and sheet metal experience is highly desired;
• You are comfortable with CAD tools and technical documentation;
• You have a solid understanding of manufacturing processes, tolerancing, and materials;
• You are bilingual (French and English).
