Job summary

Tim Hortons at Ottawa Civic Hospital is seeking a General Helper for an overnight shift to support daily operations with a wide range of tasks including cleaning, food preparation, serving meals, and dishwashing. You will assist with setting up and cleaning tables, handling cash, delivering trays to residents, and ensuring sanitation and safety standards are met.

Assets include a Food Handler Certificate and prior experience in food services or healthcare environments; must work well in a team

Qualifications

• Assets include a Food Handler Certificate or provincial equivalent.
• Experience in housekeeping or food services is an asset.
• Experience in healthcare environments or long-term care is preferred.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Strong command of English, verbal and written.

Responsibilities

• Assist with food preparation, set up and cleanup of chairs & tables, serving meals, delivering trays to residents, dishwashing and maintaining cleanliness of the kitchen.
• Follow health & safety guidelines; report injuries and hazards to supervisor; accommodate reasonable management requests.
• Perform sales transactions in a timely fashion.
• Interact with customers and resolve complaints in a friendly, service-oriented manner.
• Ensure compliance with service standards, inventory and cash-control procedures.
• Ensure compliance with sanitation and safety requirements.
• Make recommendations, cross-sell products and introduce new ones.

How you will make an impact:
You will be responsible for supporting our daily operations with a wide range of tasks such as cleaning, cash handling, food preparation, serving meals, and dishwashing.

As a General Helper, you will:

• Assist with food preparation, set up and cleanup of chairs & tables, serving meals, delivering trays to residents, dishwashing and maintaining cleanliness of the kitchen.
• Perform duties according to health & safety guidelines, report all injuries and hazards to the supervisor immediately and other reasonable requests from management
• Perform sales transactions in a timely fashion
• Interact with customers and resolve customer complaints in a friendly, service-oriented manner
• Ensure compliance with company service standards and inventory and cash control procedures
• Ensure compliance with all sanitation and safety requirements
• Make recommendations, cross-sell products and introduce new ones

About you:

• A valid Food Handler Certificate or provincial equivalent is an asset
• Previous housekeeping and food services experience is an asset
• Previous experience in the healthcare environment or long-term care setting is preferred
• Able to work independently and as part of a team
• Good command of English language, both verbal and written and ability to follow written and verbal instructions
