Job summary

Compass Group Canada is seeking a General Helper for overnight shifts. You will support daily operations by assisting with food preparation, serving meals, delivering trays, and dishwashing while maintaining kitchen cleanliness.

duties include handling transactions, interacting with customers, and ensuring compliance with safety, sanitation, and service standards. English communication is required; healthcare experience is a plus.

Qualifications

  • Food handler certificate or provincial equivalent is an asset.
  • Previous housekeeping and food services experience is an asset.
  • Experience in healthcare or long-term care is preferred.
  • Able to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Good command of English, both verbal and written.

Responsibilities

  • Follow health and safety guidelines; report injuries and hazards to supervisor.
  • Handle sales transactions in a timely fashion.

  • Ensure compliance with service standards, inventory and cash control procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with sanitation and safety requirements.
  • Make recommendations and cross-sell products.

How You Will Make An Impact

You will be responsible for supporting our daily operations with a wide range of tasks such as cleaning, cash handling, food preparation, serving meals, and dishwashing.

As a General Helper, You Will
  • Assist with food preparation, set up and cleanup of chairs & tables, serving meals, delivering trays to residents, dishwashing and maintaining cleanliness of the kitchen.
  • Perform duties according to health & safety guidelines, report all injuries and hazards to the supervisor immediately and other reasonable requests from management
  • Perform sales transactions in a timely fashion
  • Interact with customers and resolve customer complaints in a friendly, service-oriented manner
  • Ensure compliance with company service standards and inventory and cash control procedures
  • Ensure compliance with all sanitation and safety requirements
  • Make recommendations, cross-sell products and introduce new ones
About You
  • A valid Food Handler Certificate or provincial equivalent is an asset
  • Previous housekeeping and food services experience is an asset
  • Previous experience in the healthcare environment or long-term care setting is preferred
  • Able to work independently and as part of a team
  • Good command of English language, both verbal and written and ability to follow written and verbal instructions
