Pier 4 Ltd is seeking a skilled Tile Skilled Maintenance Technician to join our on-site team at our Nova Scotia location. The role focuses on tile installation, repair, and refurbishment across residential suites and common areas, with an emphasis on quality workmanship and safety.

Successful candidates will manage maintenance and turnover projects, troubleshoot tile-related issues, and collaborate with property management to ensure resident satisfaction.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 3–5 years of tile installation or related skilled trade experience.
  • Residential renovation, suite turnover, or maintenance project experience preferred.
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Perform tile installation, replacement, repair, and grout work in residential suites and common areas.
  • Complete maintenance and turnover projects to prepare suites for occupancy.
  • Assess and troubleshoot flooring and tile-related issues to determine repair solutions.
  • Remove damaged tiles and prepare surfaces for installation with a professional finish.
  • Maintain safety, accuracy, and record-keeping for all work performed.
  • Collaborate with Property Management and Maintenance teams to support resident satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform tile installation, replacement, repair, and grout work in residential suites, common areas, and amenity spaces.
  • Complete maintenance, renovation, and turnover projects to ensure suites are ready for new resident occupancy.
  • Assess and troubleshoot flooring, wall tile, and related surface issues to determine appropriate repair solutions.
  • Remove damaged tiles and prepare surfaces for installation while ensuring a professional finish.
  • Conduct preventative maintenance inspections and identify opportunities to improve suite and building conditions.
  • Assist with general maintenance tasks, including minor carpentry, drywall repair, painting, caulking, and finishing work as required.
  • Ensure all work is completed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with company standards and applicable building codes.
  • Maintain accurate records of completed work, material requirements, and maintenance requests.
  • Collaborate with Property Management and Maintenance teams to support resident satisfaction and portfolio performance.
Crucial Knowledge & Skills
  • Advanced knowledge of tile installation, repair, grouting, finishing, and surface preparation techniques.
  • Ability to interpret work orders, drawings, specifications, and project requirements.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
  • Excellent troubleshooting, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within a team environment.
  • Strong communication and resident-focused approach.
Education & Experience Required
  • Minimum 3-5 years of experience in tile installation, tile repair, residential maintenance, construction, or related skilled trade.
  • Demonstrated experience completing residential renovation, suite turnover, or maintenance projects.
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation are considered an asset.
  • Experience working in residential rental, condominium, hospitality, or property management environments is preferred.
  • Ability to lift, carry, and move materials and equipment required to perform the duties of the role.
  • Ability to work flexible hours and participate in an on-call rotation, including evenings, weekends, and emergency response when required.
Additional Details
  • Competitive Salary Range: $45,000-65,000
  • Work Arrangement: Fully on-site, 5 days a week at our Nova Scotia location - 800 Windmill Road.
