Job summary

Pier 4 Ltd in Cambridge, Ontario, is seeking a skilled Carpentry Skilled Maintenance Technician to renovate and maintain residential communities and complete a variety of projects.

You will own carpentry tasks, read drawings, and collaborate with the maintenance team to ensure high workmanship, safety, and resident satisfaction. This full-time, on-site role offers a competitive salary and benefits in a growing company.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Minimum 5 years of carpentry, construction, renovation, or residential maintenance experience.
  • Experience in residential property management or multi-residential environments is an asset.
  • Must be legally eligible to work in Canada and pass a criminal background check.
  • Valid Ontario G Driver's License.

Responsibilities

  • Own and maintain a reliable vehicle and hand and power tools.
  • Complete residential unit turns, renovations, and repairs in vacant/occupied suites to move-in ready standards.
  • Read and interpret drawings, scopes of work, and project specifications for carpentry/maintenance projects.
  • Construct, repair, and install walls, flooring, doorframes, windows, cabinetry, drywall, trim, etc.
  • Install subflooring, vinyl flooring, and luxury vinyl tile with high workmanship.
  • Inspect and replace damaged frameworks, fixtures, and building components.
  • Perform scheduled and emergency maintenance including minor electrical/plumbing repairs.
  • Collaborate with maintenance team, contractors, electricians, plumbers, and other trades.
  • Maintain clean, safe work environments and adhere to safety standards.
  • Participate in on-call rotation and after-hours emergencies.

Responsibilities
  • Must own and maintain a reliable vehicle and personal hand and power tools.
  • Complete residential unit turns, renovations, and repairs in vacant and occupied suites, ensuring units are move-in ready and maintained to company standards.
  • Read and interpret drawings, scopes of work, and project specifications to accurate execute carpentry and maintenance projects.
  • Construct, repair, and install walls, flooring, doorframes, windows, doors, cabinetry, drywall, trim, and other structural and finish components.
  • Install subflooring, vinyl flooring, and luxury vinyl tile (LVT) while ensuring high-quality workmanship and attention to detail.
  • Inspect, troubleshoot, and replace damaged frameworks, fixtures, and building components as required.
  • Performed scheduled and emergency maintenance work orders, including minor electrical and plumping repairs such as lighting, fixture, and toilet replacement.
  • Collaborate effectively with maintenance team members, contractors, electricians, plumbers, and other trades to complete projects safely and efficiently.
  • Maintain clean, organized, and safe work environments while adhering to company safety standards and operational procedures.
  • Participate in an on-call rotation and respond to after-hours emergencies involving building systems and resident needs.
Crucial Knowledge & Skills
  • Strong carpentry, renovation, and residential maintenance skills.
  • Proficient in the safe use of hand and power tools.
  • Ability to read and interpret drawings, plans, and scopes of work.
  • Strong troubleshooting, problem-solving, and attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication, customer service, and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
  • Knowledge of residential building systems, maintenance practices, and safety procedures.
  • Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform demanding manual work.
Education & Experience Requirements
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum 5 years of carpentry, construction, renovation, or residential maintenance experience.
  • Proven experience completing residential repairs, renovations, and unit turnovers.
  • Previous experience in residential property management, maintenance, or multi-residential environments is considered an asset.
  • Valid Ontario G Driver's License.
  • Knowledge of Ontario Residential Tenancies legislation is considered an asset.
  • Must be legally eligible to work in Canada and successfully pass a criminal background check.

  • Competitive Salary Range: $55,000-75,000
