Job summary

Dexterra Group is seeking a Breakfast Cook to delight clients by preparing breakfast and other dishes to Dexterra’s high standards. The role is safety sensitive and requires drug, alcohol, and fit-to-work testing as a condition of employment.

Responsibilities include preparing meals for up to 70 clients, creating menus, ensuring quality and safety, operating and sanitizing kitchen equipment, and adhering to food hygiene regulations. Health benefits and career growth opportunities are provided.

Qualifications

• FoodSafe Level I is required.
• Minimum 3 years cooking and baking in a similar or institutional environment.
• WHMIS test must be passed with 80% or higher.

• Prepare and cook breakfast for up to 70 clients.
• Create and follow menus to ensure food quality.
• Wrap and date baked goods per production schedule.
• Maintain consistent food quality per client requirements including dietary restrictions.
• Ensure proper equipment operation, safety and sanitation in the kitchen.
• Cook and serve hamburgers and fries to order.
• Comply with Food Hygiene Act and regulations.
• Clean, wash and sanitize equipment and work areas.

WHAT’S THE JOB?

The Breakfast Cook is responsible for delighting our clients by preparing and cooking breakfast and other dishes to the highest standards of Dexterra.

This position is safety sensitive and requires drug, alcohol and fit to work testing as a condition of employment.

Your Work Will Include

• Preparing and cooking breakfast for up to 70 clients
• Creating and following menus to ensure quality of food prepared and served
• Wrapping and dating all baked goods in accordance with production schedule
• Ensuring consistent quality standard in over-all food preparation as per clients’ requirements including consideration to special dietary constraints
• Ensuring proper equipment operation, safety and sanitation in the kitchen
• Serve and cook hamburgers, fries to order
• Complying with food hygiene regulations in accordance with Food Safety Act
• Cleaning, washing, and sanitizing equipment and over-all work areas

Qualifications

WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR?

• FoodSafe Level I is a minimum. SafeCheck advanced food safety certification or HACCP certification is an asset.
• Minimum 3 years’ cooking and baking experience in a similar or hotel/institutional environment
• Prior supervisory experience is an asset
• Ability to stand for a long period of time and lift up to 35 pounds
• Successful candidates MUST obtain a mark of 80% or higher on the mandatory WHMIS test (Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System).
