Job summary

Pratt & Whitney Canada is seeking a Thermal & Structural Analyst for an on-site role in Mississauga. The position requires expertise in thermal and structural analyses, lifing, and a strong background in heat transfer and fluid mechanics.

Responsibilities include leading complex projects, collaborating with IPT teams, and presenting in design reviews while contributing to ongoing research and technology development.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field with 4–7 years of experience.
  • Master’s or PhD with 2–5 years of experience is acceptable.
  • Basic knowledge of heat transfer and fluid mechanics is required.
  • Familiarity with CFD is an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and execute structural/stress, thermal and lifing analysis of component/system designs.
  • Use available 3D finite element stress analysis tools to optimize design quality and ensure structural integrity.
  • Determine test objectives on rig/test cell hardware and instrumentation.
  • Participate in generic research programs to improve component life and durability and develop new technology.
  • Responsible for entire projects with significant scope and complexity.
  • Work with integrated product teams (IPT) in all stages from design to production.
  • Presenting in design reviews and supporting to STO through QN dispositions.

Areas of Expertise: Thermal analysis, linear and non-linear structural analysis, lifing analysis, damage tolerance, durability, and design allowables. Specific structural engineering specialties may include dynamics and loads analysis, fatigue and creep assessments. Research, and development of structural engineering specification for product design or operation of product. This is a full-time position from Monday to Friday with flexible hours, based in Mississauga, and performed exclusively on-site.

What will your day-to-day look like?

What do you need to be successful?
  • Bachelor’s degree with 4 to 7 years experience.

  • Basic knowledge of heat transfer and fluid mechanics is required.
  • Familiarity with CFD is an asset
  • Occasional overtime, evening, weekend or holiday support may be required.

The salary range for this role is 78,000 CAD - 122,850 CAD . The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
