The City of Thunder Bay is seeking a Cook to prepare meals for residents, staff and functions under the supervision of the Manager - Food & Nutrition Services. You will handle regular, therapeutic and texture-modified foods with attention to portioning and attractive presentation.

You must have chef training or culinary management credentials with a trade certification, plus at least two years in institutional or healthcare cooking, and a current Safe Food Handling certificate.

Qualifications

• Chef training or culinary management diploma or certification from a college of applied arts and technology or a private career college; and a certificate of qualification in the trade of Cook or Institutional Cook; or
• Appropriate skills, knowledge and a minimum of 2 years experience in institutional/health care/restaurant hospitality cooking to perform duties
• Current Safe Food Handling certification approved by the Thunder Bay District Health Unit

Responsabilités

• Prepare regular, therapeutic and texture modified foods.
• Ensure correct portioning and attractive presentation of foods.
• Develop and maintain standardized recipes.
• Sanitary food handling and proper storage of foods.
• Maintain cleanliness of work areas.
• Prepare foods for Catering Service.
• Assist in requisitioning supplies.
• Participate in meetings discussing food/menu matters.
• Provide courteous customer service to residents, families, staff, visitors and other patrons.
• Participate in fire drills, evacuations and safety measures.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
