Job summary

Delta Parks, Recreation & Culture is seeking a reliable Theatre Attendant for our Art Centres in Delta. The role involves front-line customer service, greeting patrons, selling tickets, and guiding them to seats. Responsibilities include coat check, food and beverage service, and basic bar service for beer and wine.

Shifts include daytime, evenings and weekends. Qualifications include Grade 12, Serving it Right, Food Safe Level 1, and CPR-C/AED certification. A competitive hourly wage applies.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Sell tickets at events and collect payments
• Greet patrons and guide to seats as indicated on tickets
• Perform coat check duties and assist with event setup/takedown
• Prepare and sell food/beverage items including basic bar service
• Maintain front-of-house appearance and cleanliness
• Ensure safety rules are followed and respond to incidents
• Provide theatre guidance and information to patrons
• Handle cash/credit payments accurately

Job description

Delta Parks, Recreation & Culture is looking for a reliable and well-organized individual to work in our Art Centres as a Theatre Attendant. This work involves public contact in a theatre setting, which involves a variety of routine tasks to assist patrons and to make sure they are comfortably situated. The Theatre Attendant will deliver front line customer service by providing theatre guidance, information and assistance to patrons. In addition, they will ensure visitor safety, sell confectionary items, basic bar service and provide coat check.

Key responsibilities

• Observing patrons who are entering or seeking entrance to the theatre; selling and collecting tickets at events;
• Greeting patrons and directing them to the seat location indicated on their ticket stubs, dealing with seating issues as appropriate;
• Performing coat check duties;
• Preparing and selling food and beverage items such as coffee, tea, soft drinks and packaged snacks, basic bar service for beer and wine;
• Taking payment and ensuring proper handling of cash and credit card records;
• Ensuring the front of house is presentable and tidy at all times;
• Maintaining order and adherence to safety rules and code of conduct and responds appropriately to accidents and other emergency situations;
• Assisting with event set up and take down
• Performing other related work as required.

Qualifications

• Completion of Grade 12, preferably supplemented by some related experience in bartending and/or serving food; or an equivalent combination of training and experience is an asset.
• Serving it Right Certificate
• Food Safe Level 1
• Standard First Aid Certificate
• Current CPR "C" Certification and Automatic Defibrillator (AED) Certification.

This casual opportunity requires an individual who is willing to work a variety of shifts including daytime, evenings and weekends.

The City of Delta provides a competitive salary of $23.81 - $27.78 per hour + 12% in lieu of vacation, public holidays and benefits.
