City of Delta is seeking enthusiastic Special Event Assistants to join the City Events Team in an auxiliary capacity beginning Fall 2026. You will gain practical experience in event planning, operations, and community engagement, creating fun experiences for residents.

Hours are event-dependent and will fluctuate. A valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, and flexibility to work days, evenings, weekends, and holidays are required; first aid with CPR is a plus.

Qualifications

  • Experience supporting events, community programs, recreation activities, or customer service.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently, take initiative, and use sound judgement.
  • Flexible and adaptable to changing priorities and emerging needs.
  • Team player able to stay professional in dynamic event environments.
  • Physical ability to assist with setup and takedown and be on your feet for extended periods.
  • Valid Class 5 Driver’s License with a clean driving record.
  • Reliable transportation.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including days, evenings, weekends and holidays.
  • First Aid Certificate with CPR is considered an asset.

  • Assist with event registration, crowd flow, and participant experience to help ensure events run smoothly.
  • Help ensure safety procedures and event guidelines are following during all events.

The City of Delta is seeking enthusiastic Special Event Assistants to join the City Events Team in an auxiliary capacity beginning Fall 2026. In this fast-paced role, you’ll work alongside an experienced City Events Team to help deliver the City’s events. You will gain practical experience in event planning, operations, and community engagement, all while creating fun and memorable experiences for the community.

As an auxiliary position, hours of work are event-dependent and will vary based on the City’s event schedule and operational needs. Hours are not guaranteed and will fluctuate.

What You’ll Do
  • Assist with pre-event planning and preparation, including purchasing materials, coordinating deliveries, ensuring all supplies and equipment are ready for deployment, and developing smaller event components such as activity stations or crafts.
  • Provide on-site event support, including setup / takedown of tents, tables, equipment, signage, and décor.
  • Support event logistics, food service coordination, volunteer support, and public engagement activities.
  • Assist with event registration, crowd flow, and participant experience to help ensure events run smoothly.
  • Help ensure safety procedures and event guidelines are following during all events.
What You Bring:

Requirements:
  • A valid Class 5 Driver’s License with a clean driving record.
  • Reliable transportation.
  • Ability to work flexible work hours, including days, evenings, weekends and holidays, depending on event schedules.
  • First Aid Certificate with CPR is considered an asset.

The City of Delta provides a competitive salary of $$30.10 - $35.26 per hour + 12% in lieu of vacation, public holidays and benefits.
