Job description

Whether we clean drains for customers or a facility, a professional plumber’s time is money, and Spartan works its hardest to keep them going. Our machines and parts are built to perform better, be safer, and last longer. We also serve our customers with expert, reliable help, including the industry's only in-field support team.

Spartan Tool is one of North America's leading manufacturers of electro-mechanical and high-pressure water jet drain cleaning equipment. Since 1943, Spartan has been leading the way in sewer and drain cleaning. We are dedicated to helping our customer work quickly, efficiently, and safely. This focus comes through in everything we do, from the equipment we make to the training we offer so customers can get the most out of our machines.

Our Territory Managers have a substantial background in the plumbing industry. Many are former drain cleaners or master plumbers themselves. The credibility and knowledge of having been in the trenches allow our Territory Manager a unique perspective on the equipment, and more importantly how to make money using it. The direct-to-the-customer, consultative selling approach has yielded the dividend of personal knowledge of the challenges that face the drain cleaning market.

Responsibilities

The successful candidate must possess knowledge in the sewer and drain industry along with strong communication skills. Develop and manage territory using geographic targeting to build professional relationships with the end users, including, but not limited to institutional, commercial, contractors, and municipalities.

Under minimal supervision of the Sales Manager, the Territory Manager is responsible for generating sales growth through existing account base and regular ongoing new account development in a defined geographic area by using company programs to establish Spartan Tool as a primary vendor in targeted customers and markets.

  1. Responsible for meeting sales/market plan goals, which include new account development and account profitability;
  2. Develop quality prospects within the Spartan Tool business model;
  3. Identify and qualify customers and conduct customer needs analysis to generate sales;
  4. Provide market intelligence to assist Spartan Tool to meet market demands;
  5. Establish, maintain, and strengthen significant relationships with key customer personnel at all levels;
  6. Maintain regular communication with other Territory Managers for sales leads;
  7. Conduct all activities in accordance with established Spartan Tool policies and business conduct guidelines.
Minimum Qualifications
  1. A minimum of 2 years of direct outside selling experience with industry knowledge of sewers/drains/plumbing
  2. Able to actively develop business opportunities, while maintaining existing accounts
  3. Solid presentation skills
  4. Proven ability to build and maintain strong cross-functional relationships
  5. Self-starter with the ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  6. Able to spend significant time traveling to customers and prospect sites; May include substantial overnight travel in some markets

This position will be responsible for a territory in Canada. The incumbent will receive a salary initially and will then convert to a mostly commission-based plan.
