Job summary

Backwoods Security Services is seeking experienced Temporary Industrial Turnaround Security Guards to support multiple industrial turnaround projects across Alberta. The roles involve guarding industrial facilities, controlling access, patrolling sites, and responding to incidents during 12-hour day/night shifts.

Applicants must hold a valid Alberta Security Services License, CSTS and First Aid with CPR, and a Class 5 driver’s license.

Qualifications

• Valid Alberta Security Services License or equivalent as required.
• CSTS certification and Standard First Aid with CPR are required.
• Class 5 Driver's License with clean/acceptable abstract (<= 6 demerits).
• Reliable transportation to travel to multiple project sites.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a safe and secure environment through patrols and monitoring of industrial facilities.
• Control access to sites by verifying workers, contractors, and visitors.
• Monitor surveillance systems and report any unusual activity.
• Enforce security policies, procedures, and safety regulations.
• Conduct vehicle inspections and manage traffic control as needed.
• Complete Field Level Hazard Assessments and incident reports.

Temporary Industrial Turnaround Security Guards

Backwoods Security Services is currently hiring experienced Temporary Security Guards to support several upcoming industrial turnaround and maintenance projects at various locations throughout Alberta.

These opportunities are ideal for security professionals who enjoy working in fast-paced industrial environments and are available for temporary assignments of varying durations. Successful candidates may be assigned to one or more turnaround projects based on operational requirements.

Wage:

$20.00–$21.00 per hour , depending on the project.

Schedule:

• 12-hour day and night shifts
• Rotating schedules as required by the project
• Overtime may be available depending on operational needs

Work Locations:

Various industrial facilities throughout the Edmonton, Fort Saskatchewan, Gibbons, Redwater, and surrounding areas. Most project sites are approximately 45 minutes outside of Edmonton .

Please Note:

• These are not camp positions .
• Successful candidates must have reliable transportation and be able to travel to and from the assigned work site each day.

Expected Start Dates:

Multiple upcoming turnaround projects throughout the season. Candidates will be contacted as projects become available.

The Role

As an Industrial Turnaround Security Guard, you will play a key role in maintaining a safe, secure, and efficient work environment during critical maintenance shutdowns and turnaround projects.

Responsibilities include:

• Maintain a safe and secure environment through regular patrols and monitoring of industrial facilities.
• Control access to site by verifying workers, contractors, and visitors.
• Monitor surveillance systems and report any unusual or suspicious activity.
• Enforce site security policies, procedures, and safety regulations.
• Conduct vehicle inspections and traffic control as required.
• Complete Field Level Hazard Assessments (FLHAs), Daily Occurrence Reports (DORs), Incident Reports (IRs), and other required documentation.
• Respond appropriately to emergencies, alarms, and incidents.
• Inspect company vehicles and equipment, reporting maintenance requirements.
• Communicate professionally with clients, contractors, and fellow team members.
• Arrive on time and prepared for each scheduled shift.
• Work independently while also contributing effectively as part of a team.
• Attend and successfully complete all required client and site orientations.

What We're Looking For

Required:

• Valid Alberta Security Services License
• Minimum one (1) year of industrial experience
• Valid Class 5 Driver's License with a clean or acceptable driver's abstract (no more than six demerits)
• CSTS certificationStandard First Aid with CPR
• Reliable transportation and the ability to travel to various industrial sites (typically up to 45 minutes outside Edmonton)
• Ability to work rotating 12-hour day and night shifts
• Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions
• Strong communication, observation, and report-writing skills
• Professional attitude, dependability, and strong work ethic

Preferred:

• H2S Alive or H2S Awareness
• CSO (Common Safety Orientation)
• Previous turnaround or shutdown experience
• Experience working in industrial, oil and gas, petrochemical, or utility environments
