Job summary

The University of Ottawa is seeking a Intermediate Generalist, Human Resources to provide advisory services on recruitment, classification, performance and development management, labour relations, benefits and safety across the Faculty of Medicine.

The HR Generalist will act as the main link between central HR and the faculty, advising Directors and Managers while implementing HR processes aligned with strategic objectives. 35 hours weekly, hybrid work arrangement in Ottawa.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of HR practices and laws governing HR activities and policies.
• Experience in recruitment, staffing, classification and compensation processes.
• Ability to use HRIS and standard software for reporting and analysis.

Responsibilities

• Integrate HR processes and systems within the faculty/service planning framework.
• Provide advisory services to Directors, Managers and Supervisors on HR matters.
• Coordinate postings and selection in line with policy and collective agreements.
• Offer guidance on employee relations, discipline, performance and attendance.
• Promote onboarding and orientation to explain HR policies and procedures.
• Support training plans and monitor delivery and effectiveness of development.
• Advise on job design, descriptions, classification and evaluation.
• Collaborate on HR planning, turnover analysis and succession planning.
• Support performance management initiatives and act as a primary contact for related processes.
