Job summary

British Columbia Public School Employers' Association | Make a Future - Careers in BC Education is seeking a Groundsperson for the Pemberton/Whistler areas. The temporary position runs Sept 8, 2026 to June 30, 2027, with 8 hours per day.

The incumbent’s arrival or return will determine end date. Responsibilities include maintaining safe, clean playing fields, lawns, school district property, playground equipment and fencing under supervision of the Transportation & Grounds Manager and Facilities

Qualifications

• Completion of Grade 11 or higher with 3–6 months related grounds keeping experience.
• Valid Class 5 BC Driver's License with air endorsement.
• Pesticide Applicator's Certificate.
• Knowledge of automatic sprinkler systems.
• WHMIS and WSBC safety procedures.

Responsibilities

• Under the direction of the Manager: Transportation & Grounds and with the general direction of the Director of Facilities & Services, maintains safe, clean and presentable playing fields, lawns, School District property, playground equipment and fences.

Job description

The following temporary position is open for applications:

GROUNDSPERSON

Location: Pemberton/Whistler Areas

Temporary : September 8, 2026 to June 30, 2027 , or return of the Incumbent, whichever occurs first

Hours: 8 hours per day, 1 2 months per year

Rate of Pay: $28.84 per hour

Duties & Responsibilities:

Under the direction of the Manager: Transportation & Grounds and with the general direction of the Director of Facilities & Services, maintains safe, clean and presentable playing fields, lawns, School District property, playground equipment and fences.

Qualifications:

• Completion of Grade 11 and over three (3) months up to and including six (6) months related grounds keeping experience.
• Valid Class 5 BC Driver's License with air endorsement.
• Pesticide Applicator's Certificate.
• Working knowledge of automatic sprinkler systems.
• Knowledge of Workplace Hazardous Materials information Systems (WHMIS) and Worksafe BC (WSBC) safety procedures.
