Job summary

The BC School District No. 48 (Sea to Sky) invites applications for an Education Assistant at North Blackwater Creek Elementary School. This temporary assignment runs from September 8, 2026 to March 1, 2027, with 6.5 hours per day during school sessions.

Reporting to the principal and classroom teachers, the successful candidate will assist students with disabilities and special health or behavioural needs, supervise designated areas, and deliver appropriate care while supporting program goals.

Qualifications

• Completion of Grade 12 plus a special program and over six months up to and including one year's related experience.
• Valid Class 5 B.C. Driver's License.
• Knowledge of basic First Aid.
• Basic knowledge of related learning tools (eg. computers, etc).

Responsibilities

• Provide assistance to students with physical disabilities, chronic health diagnoses, intellectual disabilities and/or social, emotional and behavioural needs as designated by the Director of Instruction.
• Supervision of a designated area either inside or outside the school, before, during and/or after school as defined by the assignment.
• Deliver a higher level of care.

The following temporary position is open for applications:

EDUCATION ASSISTANT

Location: District – North Blackwater Creek Elementary School

Temporary: September 8, 2026 to March 1, 2027, or return of Incumbent, whichever occurs first

Hours: 6.5 hours per day, for all days school is in session for students (Education Assistant)

Rate of Pay: $33.69/hour (Education Assistant)

Duties & Responsibilities:

Under the direction of the Principal(s) and the general supervision of the Classroom Teacher(s), provides assistance to students who have physical disabilities, chronic health diagnoses, intellectual disabilities and/or social, emotional and behavioural needs as designated by the Director of Instruction, while supporting the achievement of stated programs goals and objectives. Supervision of a designated area either inside or outside the school, before, during and/or after school as defined by the terms of the assignment.

This position will require the successful applicant to deliver a higher level of care.

Qualifications:

Completion of Grade 12 plus a special program and over six (6) months up to and including one (1) year's related experience. A special program would be the Capilano University Education Assistant Program. Valid Class 5 B.C. Driver's License. Knowledge of basic First Aid. Basic knowledge of related learning tools (ie. computers, etc).
