Job summary

South East Cornerstone School Division is seeking a temporary caretaker for Hillcrest School in Estevan, SK. The position is 40 hours per week, with a start date as soon as possible and an end date of December 31, 2026, possible extension.

Responsibilities follow the attached description; duties include cleaning, maintenance and operation of grounds equipment. A Grade 10 education is required; a Driver's License and WHMIS knowledge are advantageous.

Qualifications

• Minimum Grade 10 education (Grade 12 or equivalent preferred).
• Valid Driver's License and basic computer knowledge.
• Experience in caretaking or cleaning processes is an asset.
• Understanding of cleaning procedures, equipment and products.
• Ability to operate tractors, mowers and related equipment safely.
• WHMIS knowledge and safety awareness.
• Commitment to public education and district mission.

Job description

Location:

Hillcrest School, located in the community of Estevan, SK

Term:

Start Date: As soon as possible/As mutually agreed upon
End Date: December 31, 2026 with possibility of extension

Tenure:

Temporary

Hours of Work:

Equivalent to8 hours per day, 40hours per week

Duties:

Duties are outlined in the attached job description.

Qualifications:

• Minimum Grade 10 education (Grade 12 or equivalent is preferred)
• Valid Fireman's Certificate is an asset but not required
• Valid Driver's License
• Direct experience in the caretaking field would be considered an asset
• Demonstrated understanding of cleaning procedures, cleaning processes, products and equipment is preferred
• General mechanical/plumbing knowledge and aptitude
• Must have the ability to operate tractors, mowers, and equipment efficiently and safely
• Knowledge of computers and applicable software
• Knowledge of the Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System
• Commitment to the ideals of public education as well as the mission, vision and guiding principles of the South East Cornerstone School Division

Salary & Benefits:

Salary and benefits are in accordance with the currently negotiated SEIU-West Collective Agreement as listed on our website www.secpsd.ca. The starting wage for this position is currently $24.14/hour along with a full benefit package and an employer defined pension plan.
