Job summary

Sea to Sky School District No. 48 is seeking a Custodian for Signal Hill Elementary in the North district. The position is temporary from immediate start to October 30, 2026, or the return of the incumbent, whichever occurs first. Typical hours are 8 per day with duties covering general cleaning and security.

The successful candidate will have Grade 10 (or equivalent) plus relevant courses/workshops, up to 3 months related experience, and will know WHMIS and Worksafe BC safety regulations.

Qualifications

• Completion of Grade 10 plus relevant courses/workshops and up to 3 months related experience or an equivalent combination of related training and experience.
• Relevant courses/workshops include Building Service Worker; knowledge of WHMIS and Worksafe BC safety regulations.

Responsibilities

• General cleaning of schools as assigned, including maintenance of cleanliness and safety protocols.
• Lifting of miscellaneous furniture, changing lights, operating motorized cleaning equipment, and ensuring building security.

The following temporary position is open for applications:

CUSTODIAN

Location: District - North

Signal Hill Elementary

Temporary: Immediately to October 30, 2026, or return of Incumbent, whichever occurs first

Hours: 8 hours per day, 1 2 months per year

Pay: $30.47 per hour

Duties & Responsibilities:

General cleaning of schools as assigned by the General Manager of Operations, which includes lifting of miscellaneous furniture, changing lights, operation of motorized cleaning equipment, knowledge of chemicals and application of floor coatings and attention to building security.

Qualifications:

Completion of Grade 10 plus relevant courses/workshops and up to and including three (3) months related experience or an equivalent combination of related training and experience. Relevant courses/workshops would be the Building Service Worker course. Knowledge of Workplace Hazardous Material Information System (WHMIS) and Worksafe BC safety regulations.
