Job summary

School District No. 48 (Sea to Sky) is seeking a Custodian for Signal Hill Elementary. This temporary position runs from immediately to October 30, 2026, or until the incumbent returns, with 8 hours per day.

The role focuses on cleaning duties across the school and maintaining building security. Qualifications include Grade 10 and relevant courses (Building Service Worker) or an equivalent mix of training and experience, plus WHMIS and Worksafe BC knowledge.

Qualifications

• Completion of Grade 10 plus relevant courses/workshops and up to and including three (3) months related experience or an equivalent combination of related training and experience.
• Knowledge of WHMIS and Worksafe BC safety regulations.

CUSTODIAN

Location: District - North

Signal Hill Elementary

Temporary: Immediately to October 30, 2026, or return of Incumbent, whichever occurs first

Hours: 8 hours per day, 1 2 months per year

Pay: $30.47 per hour

Duties & Responsibilities

General cleaning of schools as assigned by the General Manager of Operations, which includes lifting of miscellaneous furniture, changing lights, operation of motorized cleaning equipment, knowledge of chemicals and application of floor coatings and attention to building security.

Qualifications

Completion of Grade 10 plus relevant courses/workshops and up to and including three (3) months related experience or an equivalent combination of related training and experience. Relevant courses/workshops would be the Building Service Worker course. Knowledge of Workplace Hazardous Material Information System (WHMIS) and Worksafe BC safety regulations.

Competition Closes Thursday October 8, 2026, at 4:00 p.m.
