Job summary

Interac in Toronto is offering a Technology Intern Business Analyst internship within Infrastructure Operations. The role provides hands-on requirements gathering, process improvement, and support for delivery teams in an Agile environment.

You will help shape roadmaps for reliable platforms and gain exposure to modern software delivery practices. The position is a full-time Winter 2027 term (January–April 2027) with a flexible hybrid setup in downtown Toronto and access to Interac’s learning

Qualifications

• Must be a third or fourth year undergraduate in a Canadian university.
• Available to work full-time for Winter 2027 term (Jan–Apr 2027).
• Familiar with cloud computing platforms and CI/CD practices.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving and communication skills.

Responsibilities

Who You Will Work With:

You will join Interac's Infrastructure & Platform Engineering department within Technology & Operations. This team of senior engineers, developers, architects, client managers and operations professionals designs, builds, implements and supports critical systems and platforms used across several Interac lines of business.

Reporting to the Leader, Infrastructure Operations, the Business Analyst - Technology Intern will work in a fast-paced Agile environment to connect business needs with practical technology solutions. You will gain hands-on experience gathering requirements, improving processes, supporting delivery teams and helping shape roadmaps for reliable, scalable platforms.

What You Will Do:

• Partner with client managers, architects, technical specialists and other stakeholders to gather, analyze and document business and technical requirements.
• Facilitate discovery sessions, workshops, stand-ups and working meetings; capture decisions, actions, risks and issues and follow them through to resolution.
• Map current- and future-state business processes, identify gaps and recommend practical improvements.
• Develop clear business flows, requirements, user stories, acceptance criteria and supporting documentation for technology initiatives.
• Maintain Jira boards, project plans and status updates so stakeholders have an accurate view of priorities, dependencies and progress.
• Support the development of technology roadmaps, capacity plans and long-term system and software integration goals.
• Collaborate with delivery teams operating across Scrum, Kanban and waterfall approaches to help ensure solutions meet agreed requirements, timelines and quality expectations.

What You Bring:

• You are currently completing the third or fourth year of an undergraduate STEM program at a Canadian university and are available to work full-time for the Winter 2027 term.
• Working knowledge of cloud computing platforms and the tools and practices that support continuous integration and delivery of business applications.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving and attention-to-detail skills, with the ability to translate complex information into clear requirements and process documentation.
• Effective verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills; you can work confidently with both business and technical stakeholders.
• A self-directed, collaborative approach: you establish priorities, learn quickly and deliver quality work under tight timelines in a dynamic environment.

Although not required, you have some familiarity or previous experience with the following:

• Exposure to Agile Scrum or Kanban delivery models.
• Experience with business process analysis, re-engineering, process mapping or requirements documentation.
• Familiarity with structured delivery methodologies, including waterfall and Agile, and with preparing specifications or feasibility studies.
• Familiarity with Jira or similar work-management tools.
• Foundational programming experience in Python or Java.
