Job summary

Bevertec in Waterloo, Ontario, is seeking a Lead Technology Architect for a six-month, hybrid role. You will shape the technology vision for our Insurance Technology organization and partner with business and technology leaders to design scalable, modern solutions.

You will drive AI-enabled initiatives, mentor teams, and provide architectural leadership across cloud-native platforms, SOA/EDM, and legacy systems, aligning with enterprise standards and strategic goals.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 10 years of progressive technology experience.
  • Experience designing scalable cloud-native architectures across modern and legacy environments.
  • Proven ability to lead cross-functional technology teams.
  • Hands-on capability with .NET/C#, Angular or React, and SQL Server.

Responsibilities

Job description

Term: Temporary Full-Time, Six (6) Month Contract

Salary: $145K or $74/hr

Work Arrangements: This is a hybrid role. Waterloo, ON

We're looking for a Lead Technology Architect to help define and execute the future technology vision for our Insurance Technology organization.

In this role, you'll work closely with business and technology leaders to design scalable, modern solutions that enhance customer experiences, accelerate digital transformation, and support long-term business growth.

You'll serve as a trusted technology advisor, champion AI-driven ways of working, and provide architectural leadership across a diverse portfolio of platforms and solutions.

Working alongside Solution Architects, Engineering Leaders, DevOps teams, and Agile delivery squads, you'll play a key role in modernizing our technology ecosystem while ensuring alignment with enterprise architecture standards and strategic objectives.

What You'll Do
  • Shape and influence technology strategy by identifying and recommending emerging technologies, architectural patterns, and innovation opportunities.
  • Lead the adoption of AI-powered capabilities across the Insurance IT organization, with a focus on improving software development lifecycle (SDLC) efficiency, quality, and productivity.
  • Provide hands‑on architectural leadership and full‑stack technical expertise to solve complex business and technology challenges.
What You'll Bring
  • Strong experience integrating third‑party and vendor platforms, including managing strategic technical vendor relationships.
  • Deep full‑stack engineering experience with the ability to architect solutions across both modern cloud‑native platforms and legacy enterprise environments.
  • Expertise in cloud‑native architecture, 12‑Factor application design, Azure services, and Platform‑as‑a‑Service (PaaS) solutions.
  • Strong understanding of architectural patterns including Microservices, Service‑Oriented Architecture (SOA), Event‑Driven Architecture, and Event Sourcing.
  • Practical experience leveraging AI technologies, agents, and large language models to improve engineering productivity and software delivery outcomes.
  • Extensive experience with APIs, event streaming, messaging platforms, Domain‑Driven Design (DDD), and enterprise integration patterns.
  • Hands‑on development experience building modern web applications using technologies such as .NET/C#, Angular, React, SQL Server, and related frameworks.
  • A minimum of 10 years of progressive technology experience
