Job summary

Equitable is seeking a Lead Technology Architect to define future-state architecture and drive AI adoption across the Insurance IT team. You will partner with business and technology leaders to deliver scalable solutions that support growth, working alongside Architects, DevOps Leads, and agile teams.

The role emphasizes full-stack engineering, cloud-native patterns, and enterprise roadmaps, with a hybrid work arrangement in Waterloo, ON.

Qualifications

  • Experience designing greenfield solutions based on client journeys and Human Centre Design principles.
  • Hands-on experience integrating vendor platforms and managing technical vendor relationships.
  • Full-stack software engineering experience supporting end-to-end architecture across modern and legacy environments.
  • Experience with Cloud Native (12-Factor) architecture, infrastructure patterns, and Azure/PaaS solutions.
  • Strong knowledge of architecture patterns including Microservices, SOA, and Event Sourcing.
  • Hands-on experience implementing AI agents and models to improve SDLC productivity.
  • Experience with APIs, messaging, streaming, Domain-Driven Design, and integration patterns.
  • Experience building PWA, SPA, and responsive web applications using .NET/C#, Angular, React, and MS SQL Server.
  • Strong understanding of data modelling, integration layers, and communication orchestration solutions.
  • 10 years of combined relevant experience and an advanced university degree in computer science, engineering, information systems, information technology, or a related discipline.

  • Collaborate with application and infrastructure teams to align solutions with enterprise architecture.
  • Ensure solutions meet non-functional requirements, compliance standards, and documentation expectations.

Join our Insurance IT team and help solve complex business challenges through innovative technology solutions. As a Lead Technology Architect, you'll partner with business and technology leaders to define future-state architecture, drive AI adoption, and deliver scalable solutions that enhance client experiences and support long‑term growth. Working alongside Architects, DevOps Leads, and agile teams, you'll play a key role in shaping the future of our technology landscape.

Work Arrangements

This is a hybrid role. You will work in our office in Waterloo, ON a minimum of two (2) assigned, consecutive days every other week, plus a fifth (5th) assigned day per month. You are welcome to work from the office more than the minimum requirement, and there may be some roles that are required to work in our office more than the minimum requirement.
