Job summary

SSA Marine's TERMONT division is seeking an IT Technician for a 1-year temporary contract in Montreal West, QC. The role supports users and operations at both port terminals handling first-line IT support, incident diagnosis, and equipment troubleshooting to ensure system reliability.

The successful candidate will have IT education, hands-on support experience, and bilingual proficiency in French and English, with the ability to work outside regular hours when needed.

Qualifications

• Education in information technology, technical support, or a related field.
• Relevant experience in user IT support and equipment troubleshooting.
• Good knowledge of workstations, peripherals, IT systems, and network equipment.
• The ability to diagnose technical issues and recommend effective solutions.
• Excellent customer service skills and a problem-solving mindset.
• The ability to work in an operational environment where IT system availability is essential.
• Flexibility to respond to support needs outside regular business hours.
• Proficiency in both French and English, written and spoken.

Responsibilities

• Act as the first point of contact for IT support for all employees, both unionized and non-unionized.
• Receive, analyze, and handle user support requests in person, by phone, or by email.
• Assess priorities, follow up on requests, and ensure they are resolved in accordance with required service levels.
• Provide user support outside regular business hours, as required by operational needs.
• Diagnose IT issues, identify potential causes, and implement appropriate solutions in a timely manner.
• Assist employees with the use of IT equipment, software, and systems.
• Provide high-quality customer service by demonstrating availability, professionalism, and a commitment to user satisfaction.
• Install, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot IT equipment and peripherals.
• Ensure the proper functioning of network equipment, mobile devices, kiosks, workstations, printers, servers, and telephone systems.
• Provide technical support for IT equipment installed in gatehouses and operational facilities at both terminals.
• Perform the necessary checks to maintain the availability and reliability of IT equipment and systems.
• Monitor IT infrastructure performance and intervene to prevent or resolve incidents that could affect operations.
• Provide technical support for the business systems used by TERMONT and contribute to their operational availability.
