Job summary

Hansen's Group of Companies in Scarborough, Ontario is seeking an IT Technician to provide internal IT support, manage server security, software updates, and hardware maintenance. You will troubleshoot, assist in deployment of systems, and ensure cybersecurity awareness across the organization.

Ideal candidates have a post-secondary IT degree (or 3 years related experience), Office 365 expertise, and strong problem-solving skills.

Job Summary

The IT Technician, under the direction of the IT Manager, will primarily be responsible for providing internal information technology support, such as server security, software updates, and hardware maintenance. This position will troubleshoot errors and fix system issues via periodic testing, IT requests, and other methods. The IT Technician must possess demonstrated aptitude for learning new technologies and a high level of integrity and strong work ethics.

Job Duties

• Provide internal information technology support, such as server security, software updates, and hardware maintenance.
• Troubleshoot errors and fix system issues via periodic testing, help desk tickets, and other methods.
• Assist in the implementation, deployment, and operation of information systems and technology solutions for business needs.
• Perform security and quality control testing.
• Assign usernames and passwords for employees and reset as required.
• Provide orientation and technical advice to employees on existing technology, such as Office 365 (Email, OneDrive, Teams, SharePoint), Cargotel (TMS platform), Geotab (Telematics software).
• Perform in-person, on-site repairs of PC desktop hardware, printers, and other peripherals.
• Monitor service providers.
• Monitor and provide support of software providers and platforms.
• Learn about the TMS platform to ultimately provide support to users for pricing and booking.
• Implement and promote cybersecurity protection and education.
• Other functions may be added to the above as deemed necessary by the Manager.

Education and Experience

• Post-secondary degree in information technology, computer science, computer systems engineering, software engineering, web design, or a field related to the industry or 3 years of related experience.
• Certifications or licenses appropriate to industry.
• Experience with Office 365 and other O365 collaboration tools.
• Demonstrated aptitude for learning new technologies.
• High level of integrity and work ethic.
• Ability to prioritize and manage conflicting demands.
• Ability to work individually as well as part of a team.
