Job summary

K.A. Group is seeking a Technical Writer to support production by generating and maintaining SOPs and shop floor documentation at our Rosenort, MB facility.

The role focuses on creating, updating, and organizing procedures, drawings, and related technical content for a safe, compliant manufacturing environment. You will collaborate with production and safety teams, leveraging strong English writing and drawing interpretation skills.

Qualifications

• 3+ years experience in a steel fabrication environment.
• Mechanical Engineering Technologist Diploma preferred or equivalent experience.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.
• Strong communication skills in English.
• Experience with ISO 9001:2015 and CSA W178.2 standards is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Generate and maintain SOPs for shop and service tasks.
• Capture photos for SOPs to include in documentation.
• Maintain shop floor documents including SOPs and drawings.
• Assist with collection, review and storage of quality sheets.
• Work with safety committee to ensure regulatory compliance.
• Generate, review and maintain other technical documents.

We are currently hiring for Day Shift Position with a consistent, work-life-friendly schedule:
10 Hour Shift - Monday to Thursday
6:00 AM – 4:30 PM
Based at our facility in Rosenort, MB (just 35 minutes south of Winnipeg)

About the Role:

The Technical Writer will support production staff by helping to generate and maintain all shop related SOPs. The role will also support production by assisting with the maintenance of all shop floor documentation including drawings.

key duties and responsibilities

• Generating and maintaining SOPs for all shop and service-related tasks, including the taking of pictures of work in progress to include in the SOPs
• Identifying shop processes that would benefit from having a standardized SOP
• Generating and maintaining SOPs for all current and new shop equipment including fixturing
• Assist with the maintenance of shop floor documents including SOPs and drawings
• Assist with the collection, review, and storage of quality sheets for all production stations
• Work with the safety committee to ensure all shop processes comply with current regulations
• Assist with the generation, review and maintenance of other technical documentation

SKILLS AND ABILITIES

• Strong attention to detail and accuracy
• Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications
• Strong background and hands-on experience in steel fabrication
• Strong technical writing and communication skills in English
• Familiarity with ISO 9001:2015 quality management standards
• Familiarity with CSA W178.2 welding inspection standards
• Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

• 3+ years experience in a steel fabrication environment
• Mechanical Engineering Technologist Diploma preferred or equivalent experience
