Job summary

Schulte Industries Ltd. is seeking a Robotic Welder I to setup, operate, and monitor robotic welding equipment for production. You will perform basic programming, inspections, and some manual welding to support welding runs.

Relocation to Englefeld/Humboldt or nearby is required with relocation support offered. The team emphasizes safety, quality, and continuous improvement within a long-standing Saskatchewan manufacturing tradition.

Qualifications

  • 1–3 years of robotic welding experience.
  • High school diploma preferred.
  • Experience with FANUC/ABB robotics is an asset.
  • Forklift/overhead crane experience or certification is an asset.
  • WHMIS training is an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Set up, operate, and monitor robotic welding equipment for production welding runs.
  • Load and unload components, assemblies, fixtures, and jigs within robotic welding cells.
  • Perform basic robotic weld programming, parameter adjustments, and program edits as directed.
  • Change, install, and verify welding fixtures, jigs, and tooling for production.
  • Conduct first-part inspections and quality verification procedures.
  • Inspect welds and assemblies for drawings and quality standards.
  • Identify, document, and report non-conforming material or weld defects.
  • Troubleshoot minor welding or equipment issues and escalate as needed.
  • Perform manual welding including tack and spot welding.
  • Maintain clean, safe work area and follow SOPs and work instructions.
  • Read shop drawings and weld symbols to ensure accurate fabrication.
  • Mark completed weldments per company requirements.
  • Conduct routine operator maintenance on welding equipment.

Job description

Under general supervision, the Robotic Welder I is responsible for the setup, operation, and monitoring of robotic welding equipment to produce quality weldments for Schulte products. The position performs basic program adjustments, quality inspections, and manual welding activities as required while ensuring compliance with company safety standards, work instructions, and the ISO 9001 Quality Management System.

This position requires relocation to the Englefeld/Humboldt or nearby area. We offer relocation support for the selected candidate.

Responsibilities
  • Set up, operate, and monitor robotic welding equipment for production welding runs.
  • Load and unload components, assemblies, fixtures, and jigs within robotic welding cells.
  • Perform basic robotic weld programming, parameter adjustments, and program edits as directed to support quality and efficiency requirements.
  • Change, install, and verify welding fixtures, jigs, and tooling required for production.
  • Conduct first-part inspections and complete all required quality verification procedures and sign-offs.
  • Inspect welds and completed assemblies to ensure compliance with drawings, work instructions, and quality standards.
  • Identify, document, and report non-conforming material, weld defects, equipment issues, or quality concerns.
  • Troubleshoot minor welding, programming, fixture, and equipment issues and elevate unresolved concerns to supervision.
  • Perform manual welding operations, including tack welding, spot welding, and welding areas inaccessible to robotic equipment.
  • Clean weldments and remove weld spatter and excess material as required to meet product specifications.
  • Follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), welding procedures, work instructions, and production requirements.
  • Read and interpret shop drawings, weld symbols, specifications, and work orders to ensure accurate fabrication.
  • Mark, stamp, or otherwise identify completed weldments in accordance with company requirements.
  • Conduct routine operator maintenance and perform basic care of robotic welding equipment, tooling, and workstations.
  • Complete safety inspections of welding equipment, hoists, and other assigned equipment before use.
  • Utilize jigs, fixtures, tools, and material handling equipment safely and effectively.
  • Gather, transport, and stage materials and finished products between production and designated storage areas.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area in accordance with company housekeeping standards.
  • Meet production schedules and deadlines while maintaining quality and safety standards.
  • Receive work assignments and direction from Supervisors and communicate production issues as required.
  • Comply with all company safety policies, procedures, and applicable regulatory requirements.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSA’s):
  • Ability to read and interpret shop drawings, weld symbols, and work instructions.
  • Ability to operate robotic welding equipment and perform basic program and parameter adjustments.
  • Ability to inspect weld quality and identify defects or non-conforming products.
  • Ability to safely use hand tools, power tools, jigs, fixtures, and measuring devices.
  • Ability to troubleshoot basic weld and equipment issues and report concerns appropriately.
  • Ability to follow safe work procedures and maintain a clean and organized work area.
  • Basic computer skills for production documentation and program selection.
  • Good communication skills and ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Ability to establish priorities, work independently, and meet production schedules with minimal supervision.
Qualifications
  • 1-3 years of experience in robotic welding
  • High school diploma preferred
  • Experience operating robotic welding equipment in a manufacturing environment preferred.
  • Basic welding certification or related welding training, or equivalent experience considered an asset.
  • Forklift and overhead crane experience or certification considered an asset.
  • Experience with FANUC, ABB, or similar robotic systems considered an asset.
