Job summary

Bombardier Transportation GmbH in Canada seeks a Technical Writer to author Service Bulletins (SB) and related engineering documentation in a hybrid setup. You will review engineering data, write clear SBs, and assemble parts/wiring/materials lists for SB implementation.

The role requires strong English writing skills and preferably a background in aircraft maintenance or avionics, with French language skills advantageous for cross-team coordination.

Qualifications

• College diploma in Aircraft Maintenance with avionics preferred.
• Aviation qualifications may be considered as equivalent.
• Experience as a technical writer is highly desirable.
• SB writing experience is a strong plus.

Responsibilities

• Write Service Bulletins (SB) with clear, concise instructions.
• Research and review engineering data from multiple sources.
• Draft SB content with structured, precise information.
• Prepare parts lists, wiring processes, materials and tooling.
• Create or revise COS documents for supply.
• Support SB proof installation/validation and travel if required.
• Assist internal and external customers with SB information.
• Participate in SB peer reviews.

What are your contributions to the team?

Write Service Bulletins (SB) that provide clear, concise, and technically accurate instructions for modifications, inspections, or repairs of aircraft. Involving all aircraft systems or any type of component.

This includes:

• Researching and reviewing applicable Engineering documentation and other approved technical data from multiple sources.
• Writing clearly and concisely structured information within an SB or between multiple SBs.
• Preparing lists of parts, wiring processes, materials and tooling required to perform the SB implementation.
• Creating or revising part(s) Condition of Supply (COS) documents.
• Occasionally support on-site Service Bulletin proof installation/validation (may require travel).
• Providing support or information to internal customers (Engineering, Technical Support group) and external customers.
• Participating in the SB peer review process.

How to thrive in this role?

• Holds a college diploma in Aircraft Maintenance, preferably in Avionics.
• Candidates with aviation industry qualifications could also be considered
• Possesses prior experience as a technical writer. Expertise in service bulletin (SB) writing is highly desirable.
• Demonstrates the ability to work independently with minimal supervision in a hybrid work environment (minimum two days per week in the office).
• Exhibits excellent writing and verbal communication skills in English. Strong proficiency in both written and spoken French would also greatly simplify our day-to-day interactions with supporting groups.
• Is exceptionally detail-oriented and adapts to managing time-sensitive issues effectively.
• Experience with Simplified English is advantageous.
• Proficient in reading and interpreting Engineering documents, including wiring diagrams and schematics, drawings, specifications, and maintenance manuals/publications.
• Shows strong command of Microsoft Office applications; familiarity with MS Power Tool is an asset.
• Strong level of knowledge and experience of SGML/XML authoring tools, such as ArborText Adept Editor, Contenta, or Adobe FrameMaker.
