Job summary

Bombardier is seeking a Mechanical/Aerospace engineer to support interior, structure and systems on aircraft. You will analyze service issues, prepare modification drawings, and review designs to implement in-service solutions.

The role requires a mix of CAD tools (CATIA V5, AutoCAD, NX) and strong teamwork. Travel and overtime may be involved to meet deadlines; French/English communication is important.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in mechanical or aerospace engineering or equivalent experience.
• 2–3 years of engineering experience in aircraft interiors, structure or systems.
• 4–10 years of related experience is an asset.
• Knowledge of CATIA V5, AutoCAD, MS Office; Siemens NX is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Handle customer needs by supporting improvements or solving in-service mechanical problems.
• Respond to urgent AOG aircraft situations.
• Analyse and prepare interior modification drawings, test procedures and compliance reports.
• Review engineering designs and participate in development/in-service solutions.
• Investigate service issues to determine root causes and devise innovative solutions.
• Coordinate with departments, service centers, vendors and suppliers; support Transport Canada approvals.

What are your contributions to the team?

• Handle customer needs, either by supporting requests for improvements or by solving in-service mechanical problems;
• Respond to urgent grounded aircraft (AOG) situations;
• Analyze and prepare interior modification drawings, test procedures and compliance reports;
• Review engineering designs and actively participate in the development and integration of in-service solutions;
• Organize investigations into service issues and determine the root cause of a failure and devise effective and innovative solutions;
• Use your judgment and initiative to recognize the implications of your proposed solutions on other aircraft systems and installations;
• Support preliminary installations of service bulletins (proofs);
• Coordinate and liaise with other departments, service centers, vendors and suppliers on projects. Support Transport Canada delegates for the approval of these projects.

*Some travel and occasional overtime may be necessary to meet deadlines (AOG).

How to thrive in this role?

• You hold a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or aerospace engineering or equivalent working experience;
• You have two (2) to three (3) years of experience with engineering related to aircraft Interiors, Structure and/or Systems;
• You have four (4) to ten (10) years of experience with engineering related to aircraft Interiors, Structure and/or Systems (an asset);
• You have knowledge of CATIA V5 (2D & 3D), AutoCAD and MS Office, Siemens NX (an asset);
• You are an autonomous person, capable of working with a minimum of supervision;
• You have good project management skills and understanding of impact of deliverables on project schedules;
• You have a thirst for knowledge, like to discover the “why” and find solutions to problems;
• You are able to quickly absorb information and, in some cases, ready to learn to support various requests;
• You are open-minded, able to easily change direction and pursue new avenues in order to successfully accomplish your projects;
• You are a team player, who easily integrates himself/herself to a group and is ready to help colleagues
• You support and demonstrate a spirit of innovation, professionalism and commitment;
• You have a good grasp of French and English, oral and written, enabling you to interact with customers, impacted groups and you are comfortable leading discussions;
• You have knowledge of aircraft certification (Type Design and Supplemental Type Design, major repairs/modification, etc.) (an asset).
