Position Overview
We are seeking a dynamic and driven Technical Sales Representative to join our team at Algonquin Bridge. This role is responsible for driving sales and rentals of modular panel bridges, prefabricated bridges, and abutment products used in public and private road construction. The position involves working with Departments of Transportation (DOTs), municipalities, forestry, mining, energy, and other sectors.
The ideal candidate will possess a blend of technical expertise, sales acumen, and project management skills to effectively promote and sell our products to contractors, engineers, municipalities, dealers, and owners.
Key Responsibilities
- Sales and Business Development:
- Identify and target potential opportunities within the civil construction industry.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with existing clients.
- Generate leads through networking, referrals, and cold calling.
- Prepare and deliver sales presentations to prospective clients.
- Specify our product with owners, consulting engineers, and contractors.
- Technical Expertise:
- Understand and articulate the technical specifications and benefits of Algonquin Bridge products used in construction projects.
- Provide technical support and advice to clients regarding the selection and application of these materials.
- Stay updated on industry trends, standards, and innovations in road construction and engineering products.
- Provide site assistance during construction/installation, when required.
- Customer Relationship Management:
- Maintain regular contact with clients to understand their needs and project requirements.
- Address customer inquiries and resolve issues promptly.
- Ensure customer satisfaction by providing high-quality service and support.
- Travel regularly within the territory to build and maintain customer relationships.
- Sales Planning and Reporting:
- Develop and implement strategic sales plans to achieve targets and expand the customer base.
- Monitor market conditions, competitor activities, and product innovations.
- Prepare sales reports and forecasts for management.
- Manage Engineered Projects Orders:
- Collaborate with internal teams to ensure seamless order fulfillment and customer service.
- Lead projects with project coordinators, operations, and engineers to ensure timely delivery.
- Provide feedback to product development teams on customer needs and product performance.
- Training and Development:
- Attend and conduct product training sessions for clients and internal teams.
- Participate in industry conferences and seminars to enhance knowledge and network.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Business, or related field.
- Experience: 3-5 years in technical sales, preferably in construction, engineering, or steel industries.
- Skills: Strong technical knowledge, excellent communication, relationship-building, negotiation, and proficiency in CRM and MS Office.
Territory: Alberta, British Columbia, and Yukon
Work Arrangement: Remote in Alberta or British Columbia. Travel within the territory is required.
