The Role:

The Sales Representative will maximize the financial performance of the South-Central Alberta territory by expanding sales of Xylem’s Flygt brand solutions and services. Using strong technical and product knowledge, this team player will address customers’ fluid handling needs and increase business through development of Flygt pumping systems, solutions, and aftermarket sales in wastewater treatment, collection, and transport markets.

Essential Duties/Principal Responsibilities:
  1. Maximize financial performance by expanding sales of Flygt solutions and services.
  2. Grow sales volume in the territory by soliciting orders, developing leads, responding to requests, cold calling, etc.
  3. Apply application technologies to drive specifications and provide practical pump solutions, seeking new uses for products.
  4. Collaborate with Marketing to drive bid reporting, lead management, and enhance brand recognition.
  5. Maintain an effective sales pipeline using Salesforce.com.
  6. Develop and implement local marketing strategies to increase product penetration.
  7. Build relationships with municipal end users, engineering firms, and contractors to promote Flygt solutions.
  8. Create opportunities for cross-selling based on understanding of Xylem’s solutions.
  9. Monitor market conditions, competition, and trends, informing management accordingly.
  10. Prepare sales reports, bids, proposals, forecasts, and utilize SFDC.
  11. Participate in sales meetings, training, trade shows, and community activities.
  12. Review online bid services to identify funding and bid opportunities.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience; technical background preferred.
  • 2+ years’ sales experience, preferably in pumps or process industry.
  • Knowledge of mechanical and pumping systems, hydraulics, pneumatics, electric motors.
  • Experience with Salesforce.com or similar CRM is preferred.
  • Ability to present product seminars to municipal and engineering audiences.
  • Knowledge of consultative and value-based selling.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Effective negotiation and influencing skills.
  • Customer service orientation.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and computer applications.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to operate a company vehicle.
Physical Demands:
  • Operate vehicle safely across various environments.
  • Moderate physical activity; lift over 70 pounds.
  • Stand, reach, bend, and move extensively during work hours.
Work Environment:
  • Office setting with occasional site visits to water treatment plants, construction sites, etc.
  • Standard hours, with 50%+ travel expected.
