Job Summary
The Technical Communicator will provide valuable support to our Mining Heavy Equipment Technicians and mining product support staff through top technical expertise on our Caterpillar Mining Product Line.
Pay Type and Compensation
Full Time, Permanent.
Compensation: $83,000.00 to $93,000.00, with performance‑based or discretionary bonuses potentially available.

Responsibilities
- Provide technical support to Toromont Cat mining service operations, including after sales service, shop, rental, sales, parts, branches & customers.
- Be the prime point of contact between mining service departments and Caterpillar.
- Review product problems under responsibility and propose solutions.
- Perform failure analysis, identify root cause of failure and produce reports.
- Write site visit reports and technical reports as needed.
- Provide technical support for various special projects.
- Help with the application and understanding of manufacturer’s warranty policies.
- Develop and maintain solid technical knowledge of products sold by Toromont Cat.
- Provide regular technical updates to technicians that repair and maintain products under responsibility.
- Inform Caterpillar about new product problems and work with various groups at Caterpillar to resolve problems and improve products.
- Actively participate in PPM (Product Problem Management) initiatives.
- Periodically provide technical seminars, small training sessions and create technical documentation as required.
Requirements
- Heavy Equipment License or equivalent experience in the Technical Field/Heavy Equipment Industry.
- High safety consciousness with minimum 5 years practical experience diagnosing, troubleshooting and repairing Cat Heavy Equipment.
- Hands‑on experience with Caterpillar Mining products, focusing on HMS and ERS product lines (asset).
- Written & spoken communication skills in French and English (asset).
- Knowledge of and ability to conduct failure analysis (asset).
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, analytical, problem‑solving, organizational and time‑management skills.
- Results‑driven with solid business acumen and customer‑centric focus; commitment to deliver internal and external service excellence continuously.
- Improvement mindset, self‑motivated, collaborative team player able to work with sense of urgency to meet deadlines.
- Adaptable and able to address competing and multiple priorities by planning effective strategies and staying current on market conditions.
- Highly computer literate with proficiency in Microsoft Applications.
- Experience with Cat systems/DBS/SIS is highly beneficial.
- Willing and able to travel and work outside regular business hours as required.
- Spoken English and French language would be an asset.
- A valid passport and driver's license with current clean driver abstract.
